Puppy Care Guide
Tips to help you and your new pup get off to the best possible start together.
Feeding
- •Use the same food we send home with your puppy for the first few weeks to avoid stomach upset.
- •Feed your puppy 3 small meals per day until 6 months old, then transition to 2 meals per day.
- •Always have fresh water available, and avoid table scraps which can cause digestive issues.
- •Switch to adult food around 12 months of age — ask your vet for a breed-specific recommendation.
Crate Training
- •Choose a crate large enough for your puppy to stand and turn around, but not so big they can soil one end and sleep in the other.
- •Make the crate a positive space — feed meals inside it and place treats and toys in there regularly.
- •Start with short sessions (15–30 minutes) and gradually increase the time as your puppy gets comfortable.
- •Never use the crate as punishment. It should always feel like a safe, cozy den.
Initial Vet Visits
- •Schedule your puppy's first vet appointment within 3 days of bringing them home for a wellness check.
- •Continue the vaccination schedule we provide — boosters are typically needed at 10, 12, and 16 weeks.
- •Start monthly heartworm, flea, and tick prevention at your first vet visit.
- •Discuss spaying or neutering timing with your vet — usually recommended around 6–12 months.
What Our Families Say
Real words from families who brought home a North Country Farm Brix's Bullies puppy.
"A dedicated breeder of French Bulldogs and XL Bullies. They periodically produce litters of both breeds, with pups typically coming health-checked, wormed, vaccinated, and backed by a one-year health guarantee. Because Brix's Bullies is a small family-owned kennel, their availability fluctuates. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a well-raised, healthy pup."
"You can tell these dogs are raised with so much love. Lola came home already crate-trained and so confident. We'll definitely be back for our next pup!"
"From the first inquiry to pick-up day, everything was professional and transparent. Duke is the perfect addition to our family. Highly recommend North Country Farm!"
"We couldn't be happier with our little Bella! She's healthy, sweet, and so well-socialized. The whole process was smooth and the updates kept us excited the entire time."
